Bernard Tavitian holds a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Paris VI, an Engineering Degree from the prestigious Ecole Centrale in Paris, a Doctorate in Biophysics from the University of Paris VI and has held a post-doctoral position in the Department of Biochemistry at Yale University in the United States.

At 46 years of age, this Frenchman now lives on the revenue stemming from the success of the Blokus game. He spends his time reading, enjoying music and …. board games.


The Sekkoïa company is made up of three people : - Pierre-Jacques JOUARS, the company's founder, - Pierre NICOLLET, the commercial and financial manager - Charlotte SABBAH-CADIOU, the marketing and communications manager.

It is thanks to the "flair" of Pierre-Jacques JOUARS that Blokus was created: Pierre-Jacques saw the game that Bernard Tavitian had created in 1999, immediately recognised its potential and showed no hesitation in creating a company for the sole purpose of publishing it. He was soon joined by Pierre NICOLLET and established a light structure which allowed Sekkoïa to sell Blokus to the whole world (35 countries to date) from the company's headquarters in Paris, using local distributors.

Charlotte SABBAH-CADIOU comes from a background in video games and joined them in 2006 to take over the marketing, media and communications aspects of the company. This will enable the Blokus phenomenon to expand to its full potential, including the multimedia versions which either already exist, or are still to come.


Because the Sequoia is without doubt the most impressive tree on the planet. It can exceed 100 metres in height and 30 metres in circumference. And its longevity is incredible: it can live for 4,000 years
